Luke was imported from Portugal in 2020, but it was in January 2024 of when his path finally crossed with Maddie and the connection was instantaneous. “I had always heard the saying that you’ll just ‘know’ when you find the right horse,” Maddie says. “I had never experienced it myself—until meeting Luke.”
Luke’s sweet, calm demeanor has an almost magnetic pull. He carries himself with a quiet confidence and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Maddie laughed when asked about him, admitting that she thinks he might have been a dog in another life — he loves scratches on his withers, seeks out connection, and is happiest when he has a job to do.
As someone who is also happiest with a job to do, it was a true joy getting to work with these two in front of my lens. New England in the Fall never disappoints, and the golden tones of the evening, Maddie’s sweet smile, and Luke’s obvious affection for her made this session particularly special.
